Light Pillars Over Charlotte
With subzero temperatures, calm winds, and a little moisture we had the makings for an artificial light phenomenon. With the freezing cold a patch of fog transforms into tiny gravity defying crystals known as "diamond dust.' As these crystals float over light sources the horizontal facets reflect light back downwards. Taken from the rooftop of Windwalker as temperatures dropped to -18 on January 14th 2015.

Moon Halo's
The full moon on October 27th 2015 produced a spectacular lunar halo in the sky over Charlotte. As the full moon shines through thin high altitude cirrus clouds the moonlight is refracted, reflected, and dispersed through ice particles forming a halo.
